Former Upper West Regional Minister and member of the NPP National Executive Council, Dr. Bin Salih Hafiz, has publicly thrown his weight behind Dr. Issahaku Tahiru Moomin’s bid for the position of National Treasurer of the New Patriotic Party (NPP).
In a strongly worded endorsement, Dr. Bin Salih described Dr. Tahiru as a competent, disciplined, and trustworthy leader capable of managing the party’s finances effectively at a crucial moment in its history.
According to him, the contest for the National Treasurer position is one of the most important races ahead of the party, requiring a candidate with proven financial expertise and unwavering commitment to the NPP.
“This is why I have stepped forward to publicly and unreservedly endorse the candidature of Dr. Issahaku Tahiru Moomin,” Dr. Bin Salih stated.
The former Regional Minister said his endorsement is based on years of working closely with Dr. Tahiru, who served as Municipal Chief Executive for the Wa Municipal Assembly during his tenure as Upper West Regional Minister.
“As his immediate boss and direct supervisor, I did not just watch his progress from afar; I oversaw his daily work, his decision-making, and his leadership under pressure,” he noted.
Dr. Bin Salih praised the former Wa MCE’s record in public financial management, describing him as a leader who consistently demonstrated fiscal discipline and integrity.
“My backing of Dr. Tahiru is not born out of political convenience; it is rooted in a firsthand, years-long appreciation of his strict adherence to public financial management laws and his unwavering fiscal responsibility while overseeing the Wa Municipal Assembly,” he said.
He further expressed confidence in Dr. Tahiru’s ability to handle the financial affairs of the NPP, citing his experience in both public administration and corporate finance.
Dr. Bin Salih highlighted Dr. Tahiru’s contributions to the party, including his role as the NPP Parliamentary Candidate for the Wa Central Constituency in the 2012 and 2016 elections. He also referenced his professional experience with institutions such as the Ghana Health Service and the Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA).
This endorsement is expected to further strengthen Dr. Tahiru’s campaign as the race for the NPP National Treasurer position gathers momentum ahead of the party’s internal elections.
