The assembly member of Boli electoral area, Hon Mohammed Abdul Shafiu, has expressed relief following the arrest of six suspected armed robbers believed to have been involved in a series of robbery incidents around the Dapuoha–Kulkpara and Boli-Loggu areas.
The suspects were arrested by the Upper West Regional Police Command following investigations into reported robbery attacks in which victims were allegedly dispossessed of thousands of Ghana cedis and other valuables.
The arrests according to the assembly member, have brought renewed confidence among residents, particularly people in Boli and surrounding communities who had expressed concerns about the safety of travellers and residents along the Dapuoha–Kulkpara stretch.
Hon Shafiu said the suspected robberies had created fear among community members, especially those who frequently travelled through the area for business and other activities.
He therefore welcomed the police operation, describing the arrests as an important step towards restoring security and protecting lives and property.
He also called on the police to intensify patrols and investigations in the area to prevent further attacks and ensure that other persons who may be involved in the alleged robberies are identified and brought before the law.
One of the suspect died shortly after the arrest. The remaining five suspects are expected to assist the police with investigations as the authorities work to establish their alleged involvement in the robbery incidents.
The police have yet to conclude their investigations, and the suspects remain innocent until proven guilty by a court of competent jurisdiction.
