The Wa Nursing Training College continues to face serious accommodation challenges, with staff and students commuting to campus daily due to the lack of residential facilities.
The concern was raised by Jinpenhi Naa, Kadir Ibrahim, who delivered a speech on behalf of the Overlord of the Waala Traditional Council during the celebration of the 2026 Dumba Festival.
The festival is being celebrated under the theme: “Promoting Discipline and Progress; Protecting Our Youth from Substance Abuse.”
According to the Naa Kadir, the continued survival of the Wa Nursing Training College can largely be attributed to the commitment and resilience of its staff, who have remained dedicated to their responsibilities despite the numerous challenges confronting the institution.
“The continued survival of the Wa Nursing Training College can be attributed to the commitment of the staff who have refused to be daunted by the myriad of challenges,” he said.
“Staff and students commute to the campus daily for lectures,” Naa Kadir added.
Jinpenhi Naa Kadir Ibrahim who doubles as the secretary to the Overlord of the Waala Traditional Council noted that the college lacks adequate accommodation for both students and staff, forcing them to commute to the campus daily for lectures and other academic activities.
He said the situation is particularly concerning because a significant number of the students are females, many of whom do not have their own means of transportation.
He therefore called attention to the accommodation needs of the institution, stressing the importance of providing a safe and conducive environment for students and staff.
Naa Kadir said addressing the challenges confronting institutions such as the Wa Nursing Training College is essential to strengthening human capital development in the region.
