President John Dramani Mahama says health and education workers who accept postings to deprived and underserved districts will receive a 20 percent incentive on their basic salary.
He said the government has begun mapping deprived and underserved districts and is working to finalise the incentive scheme with the Fair Wages and Salaries Commission.
President Mahama also said government is improving conditions in underserved districts by providing better roads, water and electricity to make working and living conditions more conducive for public sector workers.
“We’re mapping out the deprived districts, underserved districts and for educational workers and health workers those who accept postings to deprived and underserved areas we are going to give 20 percent of basic salary as an incentive.”
“So that process has started and once we sign off on it for those who come to underserved areas you get another 20 percent of basic salary as an incentive for accepting postings.”
“We’re also improving the conditions in every district, improving the roads, providing water, electricity and everything so that it makes your lives easier in your facilities.”
