The Upper West Regional Police Command has arrested two suspects and seized 192 compressed wraps of a substance suspected to be cocaine (rock) in Wa, according to a press release issued by the Command.
The Police said the suspects were arrested “for their involvement in trafficking and distribution of narcotic substances in the Region,” resulting in the seizure of the 192 compressed wraps and the arrest of the two individuals.
According to the press release, the arrests took place on September 6, 2026, following “credible intelligence received by the Police regarding the transportation of suspected cocaine from Kumasi to Wa through the Bole enclave.”
The Police said they subsequently “mounted surveillance along the suspected route” and intercepted 26-year-old Abdulai Isaac, a driver’s mate, at the ESP Bus Station in Wa.
“A search of his backpack led to the discovery of 192 newly concealed compressed parcels of a substance suspected to be cocaine,” the Police said.
The press release further stated that during interrogation, Abdulai Isaac mentioned some of his customers, leading to the arrest of Iddrisu Kamaldeen.
The Police said Kamaldeen “admitted to being a customer of Abdulai Isaac.”
The Police said it collaborated with officers from the Narcotics Control Commission (NACOC) in Wa on September 14, 2026, to conduct a field test on the seized exhibits.
According to the Command, the test was conducted “in the presence of the two suspects, their family members, and the Police,” with the substance testing positive for cocaine.
The two suspects, Abdulai Isaac and Iddrisu Kamaldeen, have been remanded and are expected to reappear before the court on October 9, 2026, the Police said.
The Command added that “investigations are ongoing,” with efforts being made to pursue further leads to “locate and arrest other persons mentioned in connection with the suspected narcotic trafficking network.”
The Upper West Regional Police Command said it “remains resolute in its commitment to protecting communities, disrupting organised criminal networks and preventing the trafficking and distribution of illicit drugs within the Region.”
