The Wa East District Chief Executive (DCE), Hon. Adamu Sayibu, has handed over a completed six-unit classroom block to the Jeyiri community in the Wa East District to improve teaching and learning in the area.
The project, which was initiated by the Ghana Education Trust Fund (GETFund) in 2016, was abandoned after the change of government and remained incomplete for several years.
Speaking at the handover ceremony, Hon. Adamu Sayibu said the Wa East District Assembly recognised the need to complete the project because significant public resources had already been invested in it.
He said the Assembly, upon assuming office, assessed the abandoned project and decided to mobilise resources to complete it for the benefit of the community.
“This project that we are about to hand over to you is a six-unit classroom block started by GETFund in 2016 and was abandoned after the NDC government lost power,” he said.
“Since then, it was not revisited. When we took over power, we saw the need to complete it because these are Ghana’s resources that have been invested in the project.”
Hon. Sayibu said completing the facility would help provide a more conducive learning environment for pupils and teachers in Jeyiri.
He urged the community and school authorities to take proper care of the facility and ensure that it is maintained for the benefit of current and future generations.
