The Director-General of the Ghana Maritime Authority, Dr Kamaldeen Ali, has provided GH¢50,000 in financial support to needy Senior High School (SHS) freshers preparing to report to their respective schools.

A total of 50 students benefited from the initiative, with each student receiving GH¢1,000 to assist with the purchase of items listed in their school prospectuses.

The support is expected to reduce the financial burden on parents and guardians as they prepare their children for the transition to Senior High School.

Speaking on behalf of the Maritime Authority Director General, Hanif Umar said this is not the first time he is doing such a donation. He said he has even taken it a notch higher this year.

Hanif Umar urged beneficiaries of the cash donation from Dr Kamaldeen Ali to take him as a role model and draw inspiration from his commitment to supporting young people.

He encouraged the beneficiaries to take their education seriously, stressing that education remains an important pathway to achieving their aspirations and attaining greater heights in life.

Mr Umar said the beneficiaries should not only focus on receiving support but should also aspire to reach positions where they can give back to society and support others, just as Dr Kamaldeen Ali is doing.

He urged them to work hard, remain focused on their education and make good use of the opportunities available to them.

“Take Dr Kamaldeen Ali as your role model. Work hard and take your education seriously so that you can also rise to greater heights and, in the future, give back to society,” he advised.
