Bukmah Dawuda “Empire”, an NDC Upper West Regional Organizer hopeful, has called for unity and peaceful coexistence among supporters of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) and the New Patriotic Party (NPP), regardless of their political affiliations.
Mr. Dawuda made the call when he organised a friendly football match between supporters of the NDC and NPP at the McCoy Astro Turf.
The match, which was organised to promote unity through sports, ended 4–2 in favour of the NDC team.
Addressing the gathering after the match, Bukmah Dawuda said the initiative was aimed at bringing supporters of the two major political parties together and strengthening their bonds beyond partisan politics.
He said political affiliation should not prevent Ghanaians from recognising their shared identity and working together peacefully.
“The objective of the friendly football match is to demonstrate unity and strengthen the unity between supporters of the NDC and NPP. Irrespective of our political affiliation, we are the same.”
Mr. Dawuda urged supporters of both parties to embrace peaceful coexistence and use activities such as sports to foster friendship, tolerance and unity.
He said the initiative was also intended to demonstrate that political competition can coexist with mutual respect and cordial relations among supporters.
