Iddrisu Bomison has conceded defeat in the New Patriotic Party (NPP) Wa Central Constituency chairmanship election after losing to Siddique Mohammed Lamin in a closely contested race held on Saturday at the Wa Technical Institute.
Mr. Siddique Mohammed Lamin secured 934 votes to emerge victorious, while Mr. Bomison polled 710 votes, leaving a margin of 224 votes between the two candidates.
A total of 1,707 delegates participated in the election, including patrons and elders, polling station executives, regional executives, and electoral area executives.
In his concession speech, Mr. Bomison called for unity within the party, stressing that the election should not divide members.
“This is a family affair and I think I need to go and embrace my grandson. For me, I haven’t seen a winner neither do I see a loser.
After today, party first. We are building a stronger party to put up a stronger fight against the NDC come 2028,” he said.
Despite the defeat, one candidate from Mr. Bomison’s camp, Hanif Jaoto, secured victory in the Youth Organiser contest, while the rest of his team failed in their bids.
The outcome marks a new leadership chapter for the NPP in the Wa Central Constituency as the party begins preparations towards the 2028 general elections.
