The newly elected New Patriotic Party (NPP) Chairman for the Wa Central Constituency, Siddique Mohammed Lamin, has pledged to unite the party following his victory in the constituency executive elections, declaring that all campaign factions have ceased to exist.
Addressing party supporters after being declared winner, Mr. Lamin stressed that the election was over and that the focus must now shift to rebuilding party unity ahead of the 2028 general elections.
“There is no Team Joe Lamin. There is no Team Bomison. All the teams have been dissolved. We have only NPP. We will do all our best to unite the party. Whoever is not comfortable with the results, we will work to bring them on board,” he said.
Mr. Lamin expressed appreciation to the delegates for the confidence reposed in him, saying he was convinced throughout the campaign that his message would resonate with the electorate.
“I was confident that the message to the delegates would be well received. I am happy that the candidates who lost the election conceded defeat outright,” he added.
Touching on the party’s chances in the Wa Central parliamentary election in 2028, the chairman-elect said the constituency could reclaim the parliamentary seat if delegates elected a credible parliamentary candidate and maintained the unity demonstrated during the constituency elections.
“If the delegates produce a credible candidate for me, I will carry that along together with my other colleagues. If things go the way we have witnessed them, we will bring that luck,” he stated.
Mr. Siddique Mohammed Lamin defeated his main contender, Iddrisu Bomison, in the chairmanship race, polling 934 votes against Mr. Bomison’s 710 votes to secure the mandate to lead the NPP in the Wa Central Constituency.
