The Chief Imam of Dobile Central Mosque Alhaji Yussif Oumar, has called on mothers to support fathers in instilling discipline in their children, stressing that effective parenting requires cooperation between both parents.
Speaking on the importance of responsible parenting, Alhaji Oumar said some mothers often prevent fathers from correcting their children, particularly girls. According to him, such actions create disagreements within the home and undermine efforts to raise disciplined children.
He noted that when parents fail to present a united front on issues of discipline, children are more likely to disregard parental guidance, which can have long-term consequences for their behaviour and development.
The Chief Imam therefore urged both mothers and fathers to work together in nurturing responsible, respectful and disciplined children, saying this is essential for building stronger families and a better society.
He emphasized that shared responsibility in parenting is key to raising a generation of children who will contribute positively to their communities and the nation.
