A victim of a recent armed robbery attack has appealed to security agencies to intensify patrols along the Wechiaubou–Nyoli road following a series of robbery incidents recorded on the stretch.
Speaking in an interview with Kangyiri Radio 99.1 FM, Mr. Yakubu Saa-inu said he and his brother, Kwame, were attacked by armed robbers on Sunday, July 12, 2026, while travelling on a motorbike from Wechiaubou to Nyoli.
Mr. Sainuwe explained that the robbers, who were armed with a gun and cutlasses, blocked their path near Samambo and demanded their mobile phones.
According to him, his brother managed to escape a cutlass attack, but he himself sustained serious injuries after being slashed by the attackers.
He said the injuries affected his head, shoulder, hand and neck, forcing them to seek medical attention at the GA Health Centre before being referred to the Upper West Regional Hospital due to the severity of the wounds.
Mr. Saa-inu described the attack as part of a growing security concern on the road, claiming that the incident was not an isolated case.
He alleged that at least four armed robbery incidents have occurred along the same stretch of road between January and July 2026, creating fear among commuters, farmers and residents who rely on the route for their daily activities.
He appealed to the Ghana Police Service and other security agencies to increase visibility through regular patrols and deploy personnel to the area to protect road users.
According to him, improved security presence on the Wechiaubou–Nyoli road would help restore confidence among residents and prevent further attacks.
