The Hudu Foundation has donated 1,000 exercise books, 55 medals, two trophies, and 10 plaques towards the final of the 2026 Islamic Learning and Memorisation (ILM) Quiz Competition.
Speaking on behalf of the Islamic Education Unit and its council, the Unit’s Human Resource Manager, Seidu Kassim, said the donation will go a long way towards improving learning outcomes among students.
He noted that the ILM Quiz Competition has significantly improved academic performance and contributed to improving the position of schools under the Islamic Education Unit in the BECE rankings.
Sheikh Ahmad Yakub has commended the Islamic Education Unit for introducing the ILM Quiz Competition, saying the initiative has contributed to improvements in the performance of schools under the unit in the Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE).
He noted that prior to the introduction of the ILM challenge, schools under the unit previously ranked among the lowest in BECE performance.
He said the ILM Quiz Competition has not only helped improve students’ academic performance but has also provided an opportunity to assess teachers’ challenges and performance across various schools.
Sheikh Ahmad further called for a broader approach to assessing students, stressing that education should not be judged solely on theoretical performance.
He advocated for competitions in Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) to give students with practical and technical skills the opportunity to showcase their talents and receive recognition and rewards for their abilities.
