Former NPP Wa Central Constituency Chairman, Osuman Abdul Hamid, has argued that the party performed relatively better in the Wa Central Constituency during the 2024 general elections compared to its performance in several other constituencies across the country.
Speaking in an interview with Kangyiri Radio, Mr. Osuman Abdul Hamid acknowledged the NPP’s overall poor performance in the 2024 elections but maintained that the results from Wa Central were comparatively encouraging.
“The NPP performed better in Wa Central in the 2024 elections than it performed in other parts of the country,” he said.
According to him, the NPP’s national defeat was widespread, with several Members of Parliament who had previously served as ministers also losing their seats in the elections.
“There are a lot of MPs who were ministers, but they lost woefully in the 2024 elections. What happened to the NPP in the 2024 elections was a tsunami,” Mr. Osuman Abdul Hamid stated.
He, however, stressed that Wa Central’s performance should be assessed within the broader national electoral context.
“So Wa Central did better than many of the constituencies,” he added.
