The Assembly Member for the Danku Electoral Area in the Wa Central Constituency of the Upper West Region, Adams Yahaya Jiga, has accused the Wa Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) of making remarks aimed at turning residents against him over the deplorable condition of the Danku road.
Speaking in an interview with Kangyiri Radio, Mr Jiga said the MCE took the road issue personally during a meeting and verbally attacked him in his capacity as the assembly member.
He said the MCE allegedly suggested that communities whose leaders were serious about development had their roads tarred, citing Jonga as an example.
According to Mr Jiga, the MCE made several remarks that portrayed him negatively before residents, despite his efforts to address their concerns about the road.
“He lambasted me, and I nearly boycotted the meeting,” he said.
The assembly member expressed disappointment over the situation, noting that successive governments had promised to rehabilitate the Danku road, but the community continued to face challenges with its poor condition.
He called for renewed efforts to address the road problem and urged stakeholders to prioritise the concerns of residents.
“When we went there, the MCE took the matter personal and attacked me as the assembly member. The MCE said people who are serous had their road tarred and example is Jonga.”
“MCE said a lot of things to turn the people against me that I am doing my work. He lambasted me and I nearly boycotted the meeting. Parties in government have all promised to fix the road.”
