The New Patriotic Party (NPP) Wa Central Constituency Secretary, Abdulai Issah Kpegla, has urged the party to identify and nurture community-based leaders to strengthen its grassroots support and improve its fortunes in the constituency.

According to him, the experience of Busa, where the late B.K. Adama played a significant role in the community’s relationship with the NPP, demonstrates the importance of having leaders who are deeply connected to their communities.

Mr. Kpegla said B.K. Adama, a founding figure of the NPP and a native of Busa, contributed to the development of the community during his tenure as Member of Parliament for the then Waala South constituency.

He cited the Busa irrigation dam as one of the major projects associated with the late MP, noting that the community continues to benefit from the facility through irrigation farming nearly two decades after his death.

He said the contributions of B.K. Adama helped the people of Busa to develop a strong attachment to the NPP, with many residents considering the party as their own.

“Everybody knows B.K. Adama was one of the founding fathers of the NPP and he came from Busa. He supported the community when he was the MP for Waala South. B.K. Adama is the reason Busa has an irrigation dam,” he said.

Mr. Kpegla said the NPP must replicate such community-level leadership across Wa Central by identifying individuals who command respect and have strong connections with their communities.

He believes nurturing such personalities could help the party deepen its grassroots support and improve its fortunes in the constituency.

Mr. Kpegla made the remarks on Kangyiri Radio 99.1 FM while discussing the performance of the NPP in the Wa Central Constituency.
