Residents of Bayaru in the Nanville Electoral Area of the Nadowli-Kaleo District have raised concerns over inadequate classroom facilities, saying the situation is forcing children to walk several kilometres to access education in neighbouring communities.
In an interview, the residents disclosed that the community lacks sufficient classrooms to accommodate schoolchildren, while the existing facilities are in poor condition.
They explained that whenever it rains, water floods the classrooms, disrupting teaching and learning and making it difficult for pupils to study in a conducive environment.
The residents further indicated that some children have to walk several kilometres to Nanville and other nearby communities to attend school, a situation they say poses a challenge to their access to education.
They are therefore appealing to the relevant authorities to provide additional classrooms and improve the existing facilities to ensure that children in Bayaru have access to a safe and conducive learning environment.
“There are not enough classrooms. When it rains, the classrooms are filled with water. Our Children walk several kilometers to Nanville or other communities to attend school.”
