Alhaji Randy Adams, an aspiring Upper West Regional Chairman of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), has criticised what he describes as the unequal distribution of benefits within the party, calling for greater access to employment opportunities for grassroots members who worked to secure the party’s return to power.
Speaking to journalists after successfully filing his nomination to contest the NDC’s Upper West Regional Executive elections, Alhaji Adams argued that the benefits associated with the party’s electoral victory were concentrated among some members rather than equitably distributed.
“The party benefits are not squared. They are concentrated,” he stated.
He said party members at the branch level, including women who campaigned tirelessly to secure victory for the NDC, deserved job opportunities and other benefits arising from government projects and programmes in their constituencies and across the region.
According to him, the contributions of grassroots supporters should be recognised through access to employment and other opportunities, particularly as development projects and government initiatives reach various parts of the region.
“Looking at the projects coming into the constituencies and into the region, those people at the branch level who worked tirelessly for the party only need job opportunities,” he said.
Alhaji Adams stressed that women and other grassroots members who contributed to the party’s electoral success should not be overlooked in the distribution of such opportunities.
He also questioned the allocation of recruitment slots within the national security services, seeking clarity on how the opportunities had been distributed.
“How have the national security slots been shared?” he queried.
His comments place the recognition of grassroots contributions and the distribution of employment opportunities at the centre of his concerns ahead of the NDC’s regional executive elections in the Upper West Region.
The aspiring regional chairman’s remarks highlight calls for greater attention to the expectations of party supporters who participated in the campaign and mobilisation efforts that contributed to the NDC’s electoral victory.
