NPP Wa Central Constituency Communications Director, Hon. Fatawu Yussif, has argued that if voters in the constituency based their decisions solely on development, Dr. Rashid Pelpuo would not have remained their Member of Parliament for several terms.
According to him, Dr. Pelpuo, who entered Parliament in 2004, should have a development record that reflects his long tenure in Parliament.
“If we were voting based on development, Rashid Pelpuo wouldn’t have remained our MP,” Hon. Fatawu Yussif said.
He further compared Dr. Pelpuo’s record with the developmental initiatives of NPP parliamentary candidate Hajia Humu Awudu, arguing that her interventions during her period of political engagement compared favourably with those of the incumbent MP.
Hon. Fatawu Yussif said constituents should critically assess what Dr. Pelpuo has achieved over his years in Parliament against what his competitors like Hajia Humu Awudu was able to accomplish within a shorter period.
He maintained that, based on such a comparison, constituents would have had sufficient reason to support Hajia Humu Awudu in the 2020 and 2024 parliamentary elections.
The NPP communications director’s comments form part of the ongoing political debate in the Wa Central Constituency over the development record, representation and contributions of the Wa Central Member of Parliament to the constituency.
