Former Wa Central Constituency Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Ali Karim Kamara, has pledged to work with the party’s regional executives to secure five parliamentary seats in the Upper West Region in the 2028 general elections if elected as the party’s First Regional Vice Chairman.

Mr. Kamara made the pledge while addressing party supporters after filing his nomination to contest in the upcoming NPP Upper West Regional Executive elections.

“If given the mandate, my colleagues and I will work tirelessly to ensure that the NPP wins at least five parliamentary seats in the Upper West Region in the 2028 elections,” he assured supporters.

“The election is an internal contest among family members. We should campaign on our ideas and capabilities while maintaining respect for one another.“

The NPP entered the 2024 general elections holding three of the Upper West Region’s eight parliamentary seats. However, the party lost all three constituencies to the National Democratic Congress (NDC), leaving it without parliamentary representation in the region.

The NPP’s Regional Executive elections are scheduled to take place from August 15 to August 16, 2026, with delegates expected to elect new leaders to steer the affairs of the party in the region.
