Former New Patriotic Party (NPP) Wa Central Constituency Chairman, Osuman Abdul Hamid, has indicated that he has not ruled out the possibility of contesting the party’s parliamentary primaries in the future, saying “everything is possible” when asked about his political ambitions.
Speaking on Kangyiri Ansuma, Kangyiri Radio’s flagship morning show on 22nd July, 2026, Mr. Hamid reflected on his political journey and addressed speculation surrounding his next political move.
Mr. Hamid disclosed that his parliamentary ambition is not new, revealing that he first contested the NPP parliamentary primary in 2014, before later becoming the Wa Central Constituency Chairman.
He explained that his rise within the party has been through years of service at various levels of the party structure.
According to him, he began his political career as a polling station executive, before serving as Deputy Constituency Secretary, Constituency Secretary, and eventually Wa Central Constituency Chairman.
For some time, political observers and party supporters have speculated that Mr. Hamid’s decision not to seek re-election as constituency chairman was part of a broader plan to contest the next NPP parliamentary primary in the Wa Central Constituency.
Responding to the speculation, the former constituency chairman stopped short of declaring his intention to contest, stating that “everything is possible” regarding the party’s future parliamentary primaries.
However, he drew a clear line when asked whether he would contest if the NPP’s 2024 parliamentary candidate for Wa Central, Hajia Humu Awudu, decides to seek the party’s nomination again.
Mr. Hamid answered in the negative, making it clear that he would not challenge her in such circumstances.
“I will not contest against Hajia Humu Awudu if she decides to contest again,” he stated.
