Former Upper West Regional Minister, Dr. Hafiz Bin Salih, has endorsed former Energy Minister, Boakye Kyeremateng Agyarko, for the position of National Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP).
According to him, the NPP requires strong and experienced leadership to rebuild and reposition the party following its defeat in the 2024 general elections.
In a statement declaring his support, Dr. Bin Salih described Mr. Agyarko as a committed party stalwart whose loyalty to the NPP dates back to its formation in 1992.
He noted that Mr. Agyarko’s extensive experience as National Campaign Manager during the 2012 elections, Policy Adviser in 2016, and Energy Minister under former President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo makes him well-suited to lead the party at this critical time.
Dr. Bin Salih quoted Mr. Agyarko’s assessment of the party’s current situation, saying, “We had a solid candidate but a weak party,” adding that the statement reflects a clear understanding of the challenges confronting the NPP.
According to him, rebuilding grassroots structures, strengthening party organization, and restoring confidence among members are key priorities that Mr. Agyarko has consistently emphasized throughout his campaign.
The former Upper West Regional Minister also praised Mr. Agyarko’s commitment to reconciliation within the party.
He said the aspiring chairman has been advocating forgiveness and unity among party members and has pledged to maintain an open-door policy for all supporters.
Dr. Bin Salih further highlighted Mr. Agyarko’s leadership qualities, academic credentials, and international banking experience, arguing that these attributes would help strengthen the party’s operations and resource mobilization efforts.
He also cited Mr. Agyarko’s promise to restore discipline within the party, quoting him as saying, “With my ‘no-nonsense’ track record, I will instil the much-needed discipline among our rank and file.”
Dr. Bin Salih expressed confidence that Mr. Agyarko can work effectively with former Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia ahead of the 2028 elections.
He concluded by urging delegates and party members to elect Boakye Agyarko as National Chairman, describing him as “the most prepared, principled, and capable” candidate to lead the NPP’s rebuilding efforts and return the party to power in 2028.
