Former Upper West Regional Minister, Hon. Hafiz Bin Salih, has called on members of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) to prioritise competence, loyalty and commitment when selecting party executives as the party embarks on its reorganisation process.
In a Facebook post, Hon. Hafiz argued that the growing influence of financial considerations in internal party elections could weaken the NPP’s grassroots structures and undermine its long-term prospects.
“When wealth becomes the primary yardstick for choosing our executives, the party itself becomes poorer,” he stated.
He urged delegates to look beyond the financial strength of candidates and assess their ability to provide effective leadership and contribute meaningfully to the growth of the party.
“The destiny of the NPP is in the hands of those who elect our leaders at the various levels of the executive structure of the party,” Hon. Hafiz said, adding that delegates “must rate competence, loyalty, and commitment to the principles and ideals of the NPP over any other considerations when electing party leaders.”
According to him, the NPP’s future depends significantly on the quality of leaders elected at the various levels of its executive structure.
He therefore encouraged party members to support individuals with proven records of service and commitment to the party’s principles as the NPP seeks to rebuild its structures ahead of the 2028 general election.
