NPP Wa Central Constituency Communications Director, Hon. Fatawu Yussif, says the people of the Upper West Region have consistently supported the NDC but believe the region has not received corresponding development in return.
He cited the tenure of former Interior Minister Ambrose Dery as an example of what he described as the impact of political leadership, saying many people from the region secured opportunities in the National Security, Police Service, Immigration Service and the teaching profession.
According to him, even individuals without high political positions, such as Hajia Humu Awudu, have contributed to creating employment opportunities for people across various sectors.
He argued that the development and employment opportunities secured for constituents should be important considerations when assessing political representation.
“The people of the Upper West Region have consistently supported the NDC, but many feel that they have not received corresponding development benefits in return. When we had a cabinet minister in Ambrose Dery, he showed difference,” he said.
“Many people had employment in national security, police service immigration, teachers etc. As ordinary as Hajia Humu, he facilitated employment for people in every sector.”
