The Assembly Member for the Sombo West Electoral Area in the Nadowli-Kaleo District has identified inadequate and unreliable water supply as the most pressing challenge facing residents, calling for urgent intervention to improve access to safe drinking water.

Speaking in an interview, the Assembly Member said although the community has a water supply system, it has failed to consistently meet the needs of residents.

“Our major problem as a community is inadequate water supply. We have a water supply system, but it is not reliable,” the Assembly Member stated.
He explained that the frequent interruptions in water supply have made it difficult for many households to access water for drinking, cooking, and other domestic activities.

According to him, it remains unclear whether the current water infrastructure is struggling because of the growing population in the community.

“I don’t know if the population in the community is putting pressure on the water system,” he noted.

The Assembly Member appealed to the appropriate authorities and stakeholders to investigate the challenges affecting the water supply system and implement sustainable solutions to ensure residents have access to a reliable source of potable water.

He stressed that improving water supply would not only enhance the living conditions of residents but also support better public health and socio-economic development within the community.
Residents of Sombo West have long relied on the existing water system, but concerns over its reliability continue to pose significant challenges, particularly during periods of high demand.
