The Member of Parliament for the Jirapa Constituency, Hon. Cletus Seidu Dapilah, crowned Nifatom Ernestina the Overall Best Teacher at the maiden Jirapa Teachers’ Awards ceremony organized by the legislator to recognize the outstanding contributions of educators in the municipality.
For her exceptional dedication and performance at the Basic School level, Ms. Ernestina was awarded a brand-new Apsonic motorbike, a 32-inch television set, and a refrigerator.
The awards scheme, initiated by the Jirapa MP, seeks to motivate teachers and promote excellence in teaching and learning across the municipality.
The awards scheme was celebrated on the Theme “Empowering the Rising Generation; Jirapa’s Dedicated Educators.”
Other individuals who were honoured for their contributions to education included Bageliku Z. Fedinan, who was named Best Municipal Education Officer, and Kutier Esteri, who received the award for Best Non-Teaching Staff.
In the teaching categories, Tampouri Benedict was recognized as the Best Senior High School Teacher, while Balansua Peter was adjudged Best Junior High School Teacher. Iddrisu Husane was awarded Best Primary School Teacher, and Soyie Doglas emerged as the Best Kindergarten Teacher.

Speaking at the Jirapa Teachers’ Awards ceremony, the Member of Parliament for Jirapa Constituency, Hon. Cletus Seidu Dapilah urged teachers to consider working in deprived areas where their efforts can make a significant impact on the lives of students.
“Teachers, let’s accept to serve in these rural communities,” he appealed, noting that rural schools need committed educators to help improve learning outcomes.
Delivering his acceptance speech as chairman, the Paramount Chief of the Jirapa Traditional Area, Naa Dinaa Donglabong Ganaa, emphasized that teaching goes far beyond being a profession.
Drawing from his own experience as a former teacher, he noted that educators serve as the foundation upon which all other professions are built.
He explained that behind every successful professional whether a doctor, engineer, lawyer, or political leader, there is a teacher who first guided and inspired that individual through the pursuit of knowledge.
According to him, teachers are the “silent architects” of society whose influence often goes unnoticed but remains critical in shaping the intellectual and moral development of generations.
