Former Upper West Regional Minister, Hon. Hafiz Bin Salih, has urged the New Patriotic Party (NPP) to use its ongoing reorganisation process to rebuild the party around loyalty, character, competence and commitment.
He believes that the party’s efforts to regain political strength ahead of the 2028 general election must begin with the election of executives who are capable of strengthening unity and reconnecting the party with its grassroots base.
According to him, the NPP’s political resilience and organisational strength could be weakened if internal leadership becomes overly dependent on financial influence.
“Allowing this rich history to be replaced by a transactional political culture weakens the party from within and damages its credibility with the broader electorate,” Hon. Hafiz stated.
Hon. Hafiz has therefore called on delegates, party elders and other stakeholders to prioritise sustainable institutional development over immediate material considerations.
“The time has come for delegates, elders, and stakeholders to do the needful,” he said, adding that “reclaiming the soul of the party demands the courage to look beyond immediate material inducements and vote for sustainable institutional strength.”
He said selecting leaders based on competence and character rather than financial influence would help create an energised and unified party capable of rebuilding its structures and restoring its political fortunes.
