The Regional Manager National Pensions Regulatory Authority (NPRA) in the Upper West Region, Mr. Ransford George Mensah has expressed concern about unemployment and indiscipline among young people in the Upper West Region.
He described unemployment as a potential security threat, arguing that young people without sustainable livelihoods could become vulnerable to social vices.
He appealed to NGOs, private institutions and other development partners to consider establishing businesses and creating employment opportunities in the region.
He further urged young people to reject indiscipline, social vices and dependency, saying the youth would eventually take over leadership from the older generation.
He encouraged young people to pursue legitimate work rather than resorting to stealing or other unlawful activities stressing “People should find something to do.”
Mr. Mensah also called for a change in attitudes towards new ideas and innovations in order to move beyond outdated practices and embrace initiatives that promote development.
He said the ultimate goal should be to create a society where people can remain financially independent and secure, even in old age.
