The Wa Metropolitan Assembly has locked down a public toilet facility at Wapaani today after it was found discharging faecal waste directly into the main gutter running from L-Sawmill towards the newly constructed MTN drainage.

According to the Assembly, the facility has been releasing waste onto the street, flowing from L-Sawmill towards the MTN office and causing persistent sanitation concerns for residents and businesses.

MTN Ghana lodged a strong complaint today, noting that the discharge was undermining the newly constructed U-drainage and obstructing progress on their infrastructure project.

In response, the Wa Metropolitan Assembly sealed the toilet facility immediately to halt further discharge and protect public health and ongoing drainage works.

Assembly officials say enforcement and monitoring of sanitation facilities will be intensified across the metropolis to prevent a recurrence.
