The Wa Municipal Chief Executive, Alhaji Nurah Issah Danwana, has urged members of the Ghana Scout Association to take responsibility for maintaining the Jubilee Park, ensuring the facility remains clean, well-maintained, and free from criminal activity.
The Wa Jubilee Park, constructed in 2007 to commemorate Ghana’s Golden Jubilee celebration, has since deteriorated significantly and now bears little resemblance to its former state.
The facility, which comprises four stands including a VIP section, has had portions of its roofing ripped off, while the entrance area has become riddled with potholes, making access to the park increasingly difficult.
The call was made when the Upper West Regional leadership of the Ghana Scout Association paid a courtesy call on the MCE at his office in Wa to formally introduce themselves and congratulate him on his appointment.
The delegation, led by Regional Commander Bawa Yahaya, briefed the MCE on the activities of the Scouts and their role as a youth organization committed to promoting discipline, volunteerism, and community service among young people in the municipality.
Commander Yahaya explained that the association continues to engage young people through programs that encourage leadership, civic responsibility, and active participation in community development.
Responding to the delegation, Hon. Danwana expressed appreciation for the visit and the goodwill message, noting that he was already aware of the association’s contributions to youth development in the municipality.
He further encouraged the Scouts to actively participate in the monthly clean-up exercise being promoted across Metropolitan, Municipal, and District Assemblies by John Dramani Mahama as part of efforts to improve environmental sanitation.
Hon. Danwana assured the youth group that opportunities would be available to them if they engage in programs and activities organized by the Municipal Assembly, positioning them to benefit from initiatives aimed at empowering young people.
