The Member of Parliament for Wa West, Peter Lanchene Toobu, has expressed confidence that the Wa-Sawla-Bole Big Push road project will be completed under the administration of President John Dramani Mahama.
According to the legislator, President Mahama would not prioritize the construction of roads across the country while leaving out the road project that connects to his hometown.
Mr. Toobu made the remarks while speaking about the progress and prospects of the Wa-Sawla-Bole road project, stressing that the people of the area should remain confident in the government’s commitment to completing the project.
He said it would be unreasonable to assume that President Mahama would undertake major road projects elsewhere in the country and deliberately neglect the road linking his hometown.
The Wa West MP also cautioned against comparing President Mahama’s approach to governance with that of former President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo saying “president Mahama is not a photocopy of former president Akufo Addo.”
“People should not say President Mahama should behave like President Akufo-Addo because the two personalities are not the same,” Mr. Toobu said.
He explained that the two presidents have different leadership styles, approaches and priorities, and should therefore not be expected to govern in exactly the same manner.
Mr. Toobu urged residents and other stakeholders to remain patient and confident as efforts continue toward the completion of the Wa-Sawla-Bole Big Push road project, which is expected to improve transportation and connectivity within the area.
The project is considered important to communities along the corridor, particularly because improved road infrastructure could facilitate the movement of people and goods and support economic activities in the region.
