Sambwoy declares himself the gateway to success in Upper West Music Industry

Award-winning Upper West artiste, Sambwoy, has sparked conversation after making bold claims about his influence in the region’s music industry, insisting that many successful artistes either rose to prominence by collaborating with him or by dissing him.

Speaking on Kangyiri 99.1 FM’s Entertainment Xtra, the reigning Upper West Artiste of the Year said his impact on the local music scene is unmatched and that anyone seeking to make a name for themselves—or revive a struggling music career—must first “pass through” him.

“Before your name can be mentioned in this industry, unless you pass through me”, He boldly declared.

According to Sambwoy, several notable artistes have benefited from their association with him at different stages of their careers. He mentioned Northug, Rekordz and Brightboy as examples.

Known in real life as Abdul Rahman Shamsideen, Sambwoy claimed that after Northug rebranded from his former stage name, he featured him on the hit song Sielee, a collaboration he believes significantly boosted Northug’s popularity and visibility in the music industry.

He also alleged that before Rekordz gained prominence, he had taken the artiste to several performances as a younger musician. According to Sambwoy, Rekordz later released diss tracks directed at him as a strategy to attract public attention and grow his fan base.

Touching on Brightboy, Sambwoy claimed the artiste also recorded diss songs against him during the period he was under the management of Stunner, now known as Northug.

Sambwoy maintained that many artistes have built their names in the Upper West music industry either by featuring him on songs or by engaging him through lyrical battles.

The award-winning musician further declared that he commands the largest fan base in the Upper West Region, arguing that a loyal following is one of the greatest assets any artiste can possess.

He also asserted that no artiste in the region can successfully organize a major music event without his involvement, emphasizing the influence and support he brings to entertainment shows.
