The newly elected Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the Wa West Constituency, Alhaji Abdullah Seidu, has urged the party’s leadership to accord greater recognition to constituency executives, saying they remain the backbone of the party’s organisation and survival.

Speaking on Kangyiri Ansuma, a current affairs programme on Kangyiri Radio, Alhaji Seidu expressed concern over what he described as the marginalisation of constituency executives during election periods.

According to him, constituency executives are responsible for managing the affairs of the party while it is in opposition, mobilising members, and sustaining its grassroots structures. However, he said their contributions are often overlooked once election campaigns begin.

“If the affairs of the party are steered by the constituency executives while we are in opposition, only for the parliamentary candidates to be considered more important than the executives during elections, it is painful,” he said.

Alhaji Seidu stressed that the party should always acknowledge the critical role played by constituency executives in keeping the party active and connected to its grassroots supporters.

“The party should always remember that it is the executives who run the affairs of the party. If the party sidelines its chairman or executives, it cannot survive.”

He noted that strengthening and empowering constituency executives would enhance unity, improve grassroots mobilisation, and contribute to the party’s electoral success.

The Wa West NPP Chairman therefore called on the party’s national leadership to adopt policies that recognise the contributions of constituency executives and ensure they are actively involved in decision-making and campaign activities.

He maintained that a strong and united party depends on committed executives who are adequately supported and respected for the work they do throughout the electoral cycle.
