The Upper West Regional Cadet Corps, under the auspices of the National Cadet Corps (NCC), has undertaken a tree planting exercise across selected institutions in the Upper West Region as part of its nationwide campaign to promote environmental sustainability and combat the effects of climate change, on Saturday, June 20th, 2026, in Wa, Upper West Region.

Speaking during the exercise, the Upper West Regional Coordinator of the National Cadet Corps, Cadet Capt Abdul Rahim Yemoh, stated that the initiative was made possible through the support of the Upper West Regional Office of the Forestry Commission, which donated 500 tree seedlings for the campaign.

According to Cadet Capt Yemoh, a total of 70 tree seedlings were delivered to 10 Mechanised Battalion, while 200 seedlings were planted at Dr Hilla Limann Technical University. Additionally, 70 seedlings each were planted at Wa Regional Hospital, Wa Senior High Technical School, and Wa Senior High School.

He explained that the exercise forms part of the National Cadet Corps’ commitment to environmental conservation and its efforts to encourage communities and institutions to actively participate in protecting the environment for future generations.

Beneficiary institutions appreciated the Forestry Commission and National Cadet Corps for their environmental contribution and support for sustainable development.

The National Cadet Corps is committed to continuing environmental programs nationwide to support efforts to reduce climate change and preserve natural resources.
